Joy Palmquist, a California Highway Patrol officer and sergeant for 27 years, has seen many people taken from this world before their time. A peer support counselor for the Highway Patrol, Joy provided emotional support for family members and co-workers of officers killed in the line of duty. It was in this capacity that she began creating memorials using photography and poetry to honor and celebrate the lives of fallen officers.

Retired from the Highway Patrol, Joy continues to offer memorials honoring those who have passed.
